چکیده

A calcitonin (CT)-producing cell line (DMS53) established from human small cell carcinoma of the lung was grown as threedimensional multicellular spheroids in spinner culture or on agar in multiwells, and as tumors in nude (athymic) mice. CT release into the media was directly proportional to spheroid volume. The response of these cells following exposures to X-irradiation, Adriamycin, or diazoacetylcholine iodide was assessed by mon itoring levels of CT released into the media by individual sphe roids. Levels of CT in the blood of nude mice bearing DMS53 xenografts were directly proportional to tumor volume and de creased proportionally with tumor response to X-irradiation and cisplatin treatment. These results suggest that the DMS53 sphe roid and xenograft models may be useful systems to monitor responses to therapy utilizing CT as an indicator of tumor burden.

Production and Characterization of a Monoclonal Antibody against an Antigen on the Surface of Non-Small Cell Carcinoma of the Lung

Background: Lung carcinoma is a multiple type cancer comprising of small cell and non-small cell carcinomas (NSCLC). For therapeutic and diagnostic purposes, serum monoclonal antibodies have been produced against lung cancer. Objective: To charac-terize a murine monoclonal antibody (ME3D11) reactive with human NSCLC. Methods: A murine monoclonal antibody (ME3D11) reactive with human NSCLC was s...

Anticancer and Apoptotic Effects of Ectoine and Hydroxyectoine on Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer cells: An in-vitro Investigation

Introduction: Streptomyces manage the osmotic stress by collecting compatible solutes or osmolytes. Ectoine, 1,4,5,6-tetrahydro-2-methyl-4-pyrimidine carboxylic acid, and 5-hydroxyectoine are among the most common osmolytes of this bacteria and have an active role in protecting the genetic material of this microorganism as well as providing resistance to environmental pressures. In this researc...

Study of Cisplatin effects in comparison with Curcumin on Cdc42 gene expression in human Calu-6 lung carcinoma cell line

Lung carcinoma is the second most common type of cancer. Inefficiency of the current treatments and the undesirable side effects of chemotherapy drugs made the know-how of the treatment important. The purpose of this study is to investigate the synergic effect of curcumin and Cisplatin in comparison with the sole application of each treatment on Calu-6 cell line, an epithelial cell line of huma...
